Prophets and Pure Reason
Prophets do not prophecy, but they point out the faults in the civilization. When the people depend on the systems of the civilization degradation takes place. At this point of time people who have regained their real consciousness try to correct them by pointing out the faults. The best qualities of the human mind are not based on the products that our societies devise as part of our civilizations because the best consciousness can be had only when the mind is fed by the objects that belong to the System of Life. Basic to its expression is the love that the mind is capable of having for the objects that belong to the System of Life. Though living according to this sacred relationship varies according to the perceptions of the individuals and the societies, it essentially expresses the culture of the never-ending mind. The world that exists outside the worlds conditioned by reasoning is not an expression of any parochialism for it is the expression of the best intelligent system that is available to us for the management of life. “The whole world, whatever here exists, springs from and moves in life. They that know them become immortal.” (‘Katha Upanishad’, II. 2.) Deterioration of the mind takes place when the mind is conditioned by the beliefs that fall outside the System of Life. When the mind loses its human identity it effects the moral and structural deterioration of the society. People who escape from the unified field of consciousness created by such societies are the ones who try to bring back such societies to sanity.
The ones who regained and retained the sacred relationship of the mind with the System of Life were the Prophets who demanded that life should be lived on the basis of the dictates of the soul rather than the alien systems that people promote. Life becomes meaningful only if it is lived in relationship with the factors that have been responsible for its existence. Though religions are supposed to promote spirituality, they become expressions of shams due to the development of parochial reasoning. As reasoning clouds the mind, people think that faith can solve all the problems that they have in their life.
